Twilight the movie became one of the year 2008’s most anticipated movies. Since the Harry Potter franchise, never before has a book to movie adaptation made a killing in the box office. The 2008 movie is an adaptation of a novel released in 2005 by Stephenie Meyer. The movie, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, as in the book, follows the life of Isabella “Bella” Swan (played by Kristen Stewart), an ordinary teenager girl, and the eventual love story between her and a vampire, Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson)

Twilight the movie took 44 days to film. By May 2, 2008, the film was done. Hardwicke, who debuted in filmmaking via the art house teenage drama thirteen, worked with hand-held cameras to maintain a “real” feel of the film. During filming, the cast members who played vampire roles were asked to refrain from exposing themselves to sunlight so that they would look pale and appear credible as vampires. Golden and black contact lenses were also furnished for the vampire cast to maintain the “look” as described by the book. Lastly, aside from the usual line and script-reading rehearsals, sessions with a dance choreographer were also done to make sure the actors who played vampires moved in a feline manner as what was described in the book.
