To the beginning ........ Edward Cullen lay dying of Spanish flu in 1918, it was then that Carlisle Cullen transformed him into a vampire as the only alternative to death. Through the decades Edward has been lonely, even depressed, not knowing what he seeks.
Edward can read minds of people. However, this skill eludes him when he meets Bella Swan, with Bella as, for some unknown reason, he cannot read her mind. Hence his fascination with Bella began, and also his intense battle with himself to control himself from devouring her, as her 'blood' sings to him. Later, fascination turns to love for both Edward and Bella.
