Twilight Movie soundtrack

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

The Twilight movie soundtrack is made up of two components – the musical score and the pop and rock songs inspired by and commissioned for the movie. The composer of the Twilight musical score was Carter Burwell, whose other works include Coen Brother classics “O Brother, Where are Thou?” and Fargo, as well as other films including Conspiracy Theory and Hamlet. Alexandra Patsavas was the music supervisor responsible for choosing the tracks for the album. Additional input was given by Twilight book author Stephenie Meyer, which pushed for the inclusion of songs by artists like Linkin Park and Muse which she listened to while in the process of writing the books.

The release of the Twilight movie soundtrack happened on November 4, 2008. Chop Shop Records, in cooperation with Atlantic Records produced the album. The soundtrack shot up to the number 1 position in the Billboard 200 album chart on its first week, the November 22 chart week. Six months after its release, the Recording Industry Association of America has certified the album to double platinum status, or selling more than 2 million copies. The album has 12 tracks, while the score has 21. Other artists involved in the soundtrack are the lead male star himself, Robert Pattinson, and the band Paramore, who performed the carrier single.
